Manuel Diaz 1914 – 2001
My Uncle Manuel was the one in the family who authored the most complete early history of the Leopoldo and Concha Diaz family in his autobiography, self-published in 1990. I have to admit: when we first got two copies of Manuel’s book from my cousin Anthony Diaz, I did not sit down and read the whole thing. I hope you won’t make my mistake, and you will read it soon.
At the time, I was newly married to Marla (Reinier) Diaz and we were packing to move to England, where the US Air Force was preparing for Desert Storm to try and keep Saddam Hussein from invading Kuwait.
I gave one copy to my Dad “Chic” and kept the other. It’s been over 30 years until I finally became determined to find that book and read it. Thankfully this past year, we were able to find more than one copy and so I have placed it here on the website in Manuel’s page. Thank you Mark Diaz and Roni Baros.

This picture proves that Chic didn’t get his nickname while playing basketball> he couldn’t have hit the basket, let alone hold the ball!
