Concha


Concepcion “Concha” Diaz was an amazing woman. She was held in very high esteem and was so loved by all, we would stand in a long line at family reunions just to get a chance to say hi to her and hold her hands for a moment. She always had a wonderful smile, an infectious laugh, and a spirit that radiated love. She was 21 years old when she married Leopoldo and became a Diaz.

She was born In Mapimi, Durango, Mexico.

Concha raised a very large family, worked other jobs whenever needed, and took care of everything while Leopoldo was away for work.

While there are records showing Concha’s given name is Conception this would be the English translation of Concepcion. While I am by no means an expert, I first became introduced to hispanic naming conventions when I moved to Texas, and discovered many people with two last names. Here is an interesting explanation of this.
