“From the Sierra Madre to the Rockies”

If you search images or watch videos of the area of Mexico where my grandparents are from, you can imagine it must have been a simple, yet hard way to live. Old family photos almost never show an automobile. I can’t imagine how hard it would be to grow a family, have babies, search for work, and get medical care when needed.

And then, how do you travel hundreds of miles to the United States for work and eventually immigrate? How do you do any of that with small children and no vehicle?

Part of the answer is having family support in El Paso, Texas, to get settled and situated.

Sounds a lot like the way the Air Force uses sponsors to help every inbound Airman and their family to get oriented to the new base, the local culture, and their assigned unit.

I regret not reading all of Manuel’s book the first time I had the chance. Don’t make my mistake it is worth the time it takes to read it.
