Irene Diaz Carillo, 93, of Northglenn, CO, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2024. Irene was born on February 11, 1931 to Leopoldo and Concepcion Diaz in Pueblo, CO. Irene obtained her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from Southern Colorado State College. Irene went on to graduate with a Master’s Degree in Administration from the University of Northern Colorado. Irene was a teacher for over twenty-four years. She was an excellent teacher and often parents would want their younger children to be in Irene’s class, too.
Irene was a devoted mother to her six children and one of her grandsons. Irene liked to travel with Fred and they went on some trips sponsored by the City of Northglenn Senior Center. Irene was also a lifelong learner often taking classes or attending seminars.
Irene was predeceased by her husband, Fred Carillo in 2021 and her son, Frank Carillo in 2004. Irene is survived by her children: Larry, Jim (Lisa), Chuck (Karen), Barbara (Kevin) & Victor (Terry). Grandchildren: Eric, Maddison, James, Renee, Guiliano, Andrew, Katie, Kelly, Mathew, Timothy, & Daryl. Great Grandchildren: Kiera, Madelyn, Remy, Ruby, William, Cayden, Asher, Emery, Brooklyn & Jason.

Irene and Fred’s children are Larry, Frank, Charles, James, Barbara and Victor. They also raised JP from a very young age.

Irene was really the driving factor in us having so many family reunions. Like Manuel, she thought it was important to save and share family history. Her many albums of photos and documents were amazing. I regret not photographing all of the albums. Some of you did, and if you still have physical copies, I would love to have new higher resolution digital copies. Let me know if you can do this.
